Alternative Spartan Breaks Executive Board Awards

Overview: 

ASB offers a variety of awards to help make participation more accessible. Whether you’re looking to showcase your experience or highlight your leadership, there are multiple opportunities to receive an award. Awards are presented to a single recipient for each category. 

Award Opportunities: 

  • Mover and Shaker – Up to $400 

    • The Mover & Shaker Award recognizes an Alternative Spartan Breaks (ASB) participant who has demonstrated a strong commitment to service and is poised to make significant growth as a community‑engaged leader. This award will be awarded before the Spring Break experience to honor a student who already exemplifies initiative, reflection, and a dedication to positive social change. ​

    • Awarded BEFORE the break. 

    •  

  • Weeklong Promoter – Up to $400 

    • Create a compelling web-based project (such as a blog, video, vlog, social media campaign, or essay) sharing your ASB experience and its impact on you. Your project will be used to promote ASB for future students.  â€‹

    • Awarded AFTER the break. 

  • Best ASB Photo – $25  

    • Submit a photo from your ASB experience that best represents what alternative breaks represent. The Executive Board will select one winner for best weekend experience submission and one winner for best weeklong experience submission. ​

  • Best Story – $25

    • Submit a written reflection on your ASB experience. The selected student will present their story at the ASB Celebration. The Executive Board will select one winner for best weekend experience submission and one winner for best weeklong experience submission.

  • Best Team Leader – $200  

    • Nominate your weeklong team leader(s) for their outstanding leadership. ​
