Alternative Spartan Breaks Creating Inclusive Excellence Program Fee Assistance
Overview:
The Alternative Spartan Breaks (ASB) program at Michigan State University, in collaboration with the Creating Inclusive Excellence Grant (CIEG), is providing financial assistance of up to 75% of program fees for your selected ASB Experience (Program Fees - Weekend: $50, Weeklong(Domestic): $400, Weeklong(International): $1,300) to help reduce barriers for students from historically underrepresented backgrounds. This funding is directly applied to ASB program fees, making transformative community engagement experiences more accessible. Awards are based on financial need, merit, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and community engagement. This initiative aims to foster inclusive environments, enhance cultural understanding, and empower students to create meaningful change.
Eligibility Criteria:

Must be a currently enrolled MSU student.

Must demonstrate financial need OR a commitment to community engagement.

Priority is given to students from historically underrepresented backgrounds (e.g., first-generation college students, students of color, transfer students, international students, etc.).

Must have applied for or already been accepted into an ASB experience for Spring 2025.

This will be awarded and applied to your program fees before the experience.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis until all available funds are awarded. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible, as funding is limited.
