SPRING 2024 WEEKEND EXPERIENCES

 

Creating a sense of independence, while providing a much needed break!

Social Issue: Accessibility

Dates: April 6-7

Cost: $50 (includes transportation, lodging, t-shirt, service fee, and food)

Spend your break serving adults with disabilities in an inclusive outdoor environment! You will enjoy playing games, experiencing nature, and making friends with adults with all levels of developmental disabilities. You will spend your days engaging campers in their activities, including, but not limited to riding horses, playing outside, participating in group games, going on nature hikes, and much more! You may also spend some time setting up or tearing down activities and assisting in the kitchen. If you want to make a difference in the lives of those with disabilities this is the place for you! Come enjoy the fun and fresh air; we can't wait to meet you!

Expected service: helping with activities for campers (running activities, helping with meals)

 

Combating Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault

Social Issue: Domestic Violence and Human Slavery

Date: April 6-7 and April 13-14

Cost: $50 (includes transportation, lodging, t-shirt, service fee, and food)

Breakers will work alongside an organization that their mission is to empower survivors and create a culture of safety and respect in our community. In addition to learning about the social issue, participants will aid in cleaning, cooking, sorting donations, painting, and clean-up.

Date: April 13-14

Cost: $50 (includes transportation, lodging, t-shirt, service fee, and food)

Breakers will participate in a weekend service experience working at a national lakeshore that aims to preserve natural resources in the area along with their lighthouses, barns, farm houses, outbuildings, shops, and more. You will have the chance to perform a variety of tasks in the realm of dune ecology, natural resources, and beach environment. Activities may include maintaining trails, monitoring endangered species, helping at the campground, beach cleanup, and more! Help ensure that these public areas are available for all to experience and enjoy.
