Service Description: Participants in Jamaica will complete a variety of maintenance beautification jobs for a Jamaican primary school, and will also assist children in the classroom. Last years participants worked in a primary school where students are taught in classrooms that are separated only by chalkboards, and they worked with a professional carpenter to build walls between the classrooms and provide a better learning environment for the students. They also painted the walls and helped install new locks on all the doors.

Service Description: Participants will experience a variety of volunteer experiences by spending their time visiting with elders at a convent, teaching English at a children’s school, assisting workers in a disabled home, and assisting with various maintenance projects at each agency. Past participants who have volunteered at one particular site have been involved with a number of different volunteer experiences and, like most sites, have walked away changed saying the trip was the best of their life.

Service Description: Students will spend their week at one of the largest single-facility daycares in the country, which serves the low-income area of Kansas City. Every day you will be in a classroom helping your teacher, playing with the kids, and doing various clean-ups and decorating around the building. You will be amazed at how much your hugs and smiles will do for the kids as well as the staff!
